MEETINGSThursday 30th September 2027
Foundations: Pharmaceutical Trace Analysis
Royal Society of Chemistry, London
JPAG is seeking speakers for the next event in our successful Foundations symposium series, aimed at analysts and scientists looking to build their understanding of core pharmaceutical analytical concepts.
The 2027 symposium will focus on trace analysis in pharmaceutical development, providing attendees with a practical introduction to why trace-level analysis is required, the regulatory expectations that drive testing, and the analytical approaches used to detect and control low-level impurities and contaminants.
We are looking for engaging speakers from industry, regulatory agencies, contract laboratories, instrument manufacturers, and academia who can provide accessible, educational presentations suitable for an early-career or non-specialist audience.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Extractables and leachables (E&L)
Nitrosamines
Potential mutagenic impurities
Elemental impurities
Residual solvents
Risk assessment and control strategies
Regulatory expectations and evolving guidance
Analytical techniques for trace analysis, including LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS and high-resolution mass spectrometry
Practical challenges in generating reliable trace-level data
Case studies demonstrating the role of trace analysis in pharmaceutical development and quality control
Presentations should focus on conveying fundamental principles, practical insights, and real-world experience rather than highly specialised research.
If you are interested in contributing, please submit a brief outline of your proposed presentation along with a short biography to team@jpag.org.
Join us in helping the next generation of pharmaceutical analysts build a strong foundation in one of the most important and rapidly evolving areas of pharmaceutical analysis.
WANT TO PRESENT A POSTER?There will be an opportunity to present posters on the broad subject area of the symposium, subject to acceptance of a submitted abstract.
